Which country's champions are the machines actually naming?
The share of each country's listed companies that AI names when asked about their sector, at home. Company against company is not a fair comparison across borders, but market against market is.

How this is measured.
What we count
Two things, kept separate. Named means the company appears in the text of a Google AI Overview answer for that sector's queries. Cited means the company's own website was used as a source for the answer. A company can be recommended without being cited, in which case another site takes the click. Each sector starts from a fixed list of its major companies, so an absence is a measurement rather than an omission.
One market each
Every company is measured where it is headquartered, and in the language that market's corpus holds: English for the UAE and Egypt, Arabic for Saudi Arabia, French for Algeria. The counts are therefore not comparable between countries, only within them, which is why we compare markets rather than ranking companies against each other across borders. Some markets are not in the dataset at all; those are shown as not measurable rather than as a zero.
Companies, not sources
Each ranking contains only that sector's companies, taken from a fixed list. The other domains AI cited, news sites, portals, government pages and platforms, are shown separately under each card. They matter, but they are not competitors and putting them in the same list would be misleading.
What it is not
Not market share, not revenue, not a quality ranking. A brand can lead here and lose commercially, or the reverse. It measures one thing: whether the machines say your name when someone asks about the category.
