Terms of Service
These terms govern your use of Cited, operated by Sandstorm Digital, Dubai Media City, United Arab Emirates. By creating an account or using the service you agree to them. If you are agreeing on behalf of a company, you confirm you have authority to bind it.
1. What Cited does
Cited sends questions to third-party AI assistants, records whether your brand appears in the answers, and produces recommendations from what it finds. It is a measurement and advisory tool. It does not modify your website, and it cannot control what any AI assistant says.
2. Accounts
You must give accurate registration details and keep your password secure. You are responsible for everything done under your account. Tell us promptly at omar@sandstormdigital.com if you believe it has been compromised. One account is for one organisation; sharing credentials outside your organisation is not permitted.
3. Subscriptions, allowances and billing
Paid plans are billed monthly or annually in advance through Stripe, in US dollars, and renew automatically until cancelled. Prices exclude any tax that applies to you, which is added at checkout where required.
Each plan includes a monthly allowance of answer checks. One answer check is one question sent to one AI surface once. The allowance is shared across every site on your account and resets on the first of each calendar month. Unused allowance does not carry over.
Because different AI surfaces cost us materially different amounts, we also apply a fair-use ceiling on total processing cost per plan. If a cycle would exceed your remaining allowance, we run the part it covers and tell you, rather than refusing it or billing you extra. We do not charge overage fees without asking you first.
You can upgrade, downgrade or cancel at any time from inside the application. Upgrades take effect immediately and are prorated by Stripe. Cancellations take effect at the end of the period you have already paid for, after which the account reverts to the Free plan with your history intact. We do not refund part periods except where the law requires it.
4. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Use Cited to measure a domain you neither own nor have permission to work on.
- Attempt to use the service as a general-purpose interface to AI models, or to generate content unrelated to brand visibility measurement.
- Circumvent plan limits, rate limits or the fair-use controls on the public demo.
- Resell, sublicense or white-label the service without a written agreement with us.
- Scrape, reverse engineer, or attempt to gain unauthorised access to any part of the service.
- Use the service unlawfully, or in a way that damages us or another user.
We may suspend or terminate an account that breaches this section, with notice where it is practical to give it.
5. Your data and your content
You keep ownership of everything you put into Cited and of any data we collect on your behalf. You grant us only the licence needed to operate the service for you. We handle personal data as described in our Privacy Policy.
You can export or delete your data at any time. On termination we delete your data as set out in the Privacy Policy.
6. Third-party services
Cited depends on third parties including AI assistant providers, DataForSEO, Google and Stripe. Those services change, and sometimes without notice. If a provider withdraws access, alters its behaviour, or fails, some features may become unavailable or produce different results. We will make reasonable efforts to adapt, but we cannot guarantee continuity of anything we do not control.
If you connect Google Analytics, your use of Google's services is also governed by Google's own terms.
7. What we do not promise
AI assistants are non-deterministic. The same question asked twice can produce different answers, with different companies named. Cited measures this by asking repeatedly and reporting a percentage, but the results are a sample, not an absolute fact.
Our recommendations are informed suggestions based on measured evidence. We do not guarantee that acting on them will improve your visibility, your traffic, your rankings or your revenue. No AI assistant is under our control, and none of them publishes how it selects what to name.
The service is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. We aim for high availability but do not warrant uninterrupted or error-free operation.
8. Liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, neither party is liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential loss, or for lost profits, revenue, data or goodwill.
Our total liability arising out of or related to these terms is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the event giving rise to the claim.
Nothing here excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, including for fraud, or for death or personal injury caused by negligence.
9. Changes to the service and to these terms
We may change the service as it develops. If we make a material change to these terms, or to plan pricing or allowances, we will email account holders at least 30 days beforehand. Continuing to use Cited after that means you accept the change. If you do not, cancel before it takes effect and we will refund any unused prepaid period.
10. Termination
You may close your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate an account for a material breach of these terms, for non-payment, or if required by law. On termination your right to use the service ends immediately, and the sections that by their nature should survive will survive.
11. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the United Arab Emirates, and the courts of Dubai have exclusive jurisdiction, without prejudice to any mandatory consumer protection rights you have where you live.
